Train your ear
Why this isn’t an interval drill
The distance between two bare notes is easy to drill and hard to use. The key is the part that carries over to playing.
A cadence plays first, every time.
Each question sets the key with a I–IV–V–I progression before the note sounds, so you place the note in context instead of measuring a gap.
You answer with the note’s place in the key.
I, II, III rather than “minor sixth”. When you’re actually playing, what matters is where a note sits in the key.
A wrong answer resolves home.
Miss one and it steps back down to the tonic, so you hear where the note wanted to go instead of just seeing a cross.
